Officials say a mur*derer who was sentenced to life in prison without parole for stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death escaped from a prison in Pennsylvania on Thursday morning. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole just one week ago.
Around 8:45 a.m., Danelo Cavalcante broke out of the Chester County Prison in West Chester, which is about an hour’s drive from Philadelphia. Cavalcante, who is “considered an extremely dangerous man,” was last seen walking on Wawaset Road in Pocopson Township around 9:40 a.m., said Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan. A prison official wouldn’t talk about the escape because it was still being looked into.
The U.S. Marshals Service of Philadelphia said that Cavalcante is also wanted for a mu*rder in Brazil. He was born in Brazil and speaks both Portuguese and Spanish well. Cavalcante also knows a little bit of English.
The police say Cavalcante is 5 feet tall and weighs 120 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair. In a picture released by the police, Cavalcante has a mustache and beard. Last time anyone saw him, he was wearing a white T-shirt, gray shorts, and white sneakers.

The police told people that if they see Cavalcante, they shouldn’t go up to him. If you see him or know something about him, call 911. The Marshals Service and the office of the district attorney in Chester County are offering a total of $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
After Cavalcante got away, the Chester County Department of Emergency Services sent out an emergency alert. Ryan said that the search for Cavalcante is being done by dozens of law enforcement agencies. Drones, helicopters, and K-9 units have been sent out.
On August 16, Cavalcante was found guilty of first-degree mur*der for stabbing his 33-year-old ex-girlfriend to death in April 2021. During a news conference, the authorities said that Cavalcante’s family has been told that she ran away. Officials haven’t said much about the mur*der for which he is wanted in Brazil.
